here are a few things that have taken place lately because of the beautiful sunshine... im finding blogging in lists is easiest- as random as they may be.
1) ill start by saying that this could quite possibly be one of the funniest things that ive heard little jenna claire say ever. on friday the sun was shining and it felt like a perfect spring day and so the kiddies and i decided a trip to the park was in order. as we were there i noticed ross standing on the side of the basketball court watching some boys that looked to be about his age playing a game of ball. he was just standing there- looking on and i decided to mosy on over. i wondered if maybe he wanted to play with them but didn't feel comfortable asking to join in. i can typically help with things like this so there i went. i was surprised as i made my way toward him when he quickly turned on his feet and ran toward me shouting 'oh my gosh! ms. maryellen! you are NEVER going to believe this... like... EVER!' (and yes- he IS in fact THAT dramatic :)) so i said 'what? what happened? what?' and he began to tell me (in the MOST dramatic way possible of course) that one of the boys playing basketball had said "a cuss." i of course responded in my most concerned voice possible- trying desperately to take this situation just as serious as he found it to be. i said 'oh man... that's terrible! why on earth do you think he did that?' and he proceeded to re-enact the situation... pretending to shoot the ball toward the hoop and then realizing he'd missed and getting upset and saying damn. but ross of course never SAID "the cuss" because THAT is just unspeakable (love). instead he spelled it. he said 'D A N M ms. maryellen! he SAID D A N M!' once again i did my best to act horrified and suggested maybe we go play on the swings. and though the story starts out with ross and gave me quite a little chuckle- it ends with jenna claire. THIS is where she came in. so from a distance she could clearly see that SOMETHING had gone on. something HUGE and quite possibly catastrophic. so of course she ran over to us shouting impatiently 'what? what happened? what ross? what?' so he began to tell/re-enact the entire story for her- loving that he had another audience to 'oooo' and 'ahhhh' at the complete and utter poposterousness of the situation. she said to him 'what did he say? what did he say? now ross- don't SAY the word. just SPELL it for me okay?' so he of course said another three times at least D A N M jenna!
D A N M. and HERE is where it gets funny.... REAL funny. as he spelled this i can see her little brownie eyes looking up to one side. i can tell that she's sounding out what he'd just spelled in her head... trying desperately to understand. she is just learning to read and so i wasn't sure how this would pan out until i could tell a light had gone off inside her head and she'd realized what's happened. THEN in the most serious and sullen way possible jenna claire responded and said 'oooohhhhh yes. i know that one. mm hmm. yes. i used to say that one all the time.' and there ya have it.
2) luckily that gorgeous weather continued into our weekend and we have loved every stinkin second of it! we were able to take bristol to the dog park for the first time in forever yesterday. she of course ran full speed for ten full minutes and then did this...
isn't she just the cutest?
then on our way home we stopped at starbucks where she (of course) was a huge hit. so the drive through girl gave her her very first puppy-chino. (really this is just a tall sized sbux cup filled with whipped cream). she loved every bit of it and managed to slop it ALL OVER THE CAR in the 5 minutes it took us to arrive home.
3) spent today at the zoo with tracy and auston... THAT was FUN! i started taking care of auston when he was only 6 months old. he was SO cute! hard to believe these days... he's a big boy now and even has big boy hair that blows in the wind when he walks (he was BALD at a bat as a baby!). i love it and i love him! it's remarkable the attachment i feel to him even after all this time! i wanna hear every single thing he wants to say because i remember day after day after day playing with him when he said nothing. his mama tracy is an absolute joy and i am SO incredibly greatful to have her in my life! she is a great friend to me. like a sister really. anyway- here's 'the boy.'
i wonder if one day it'll be the same feeling for little sophie when she starts to talk and walk and run... i love her the same way i've always loved him. i can't imagine loving either more. and i seriously cannot believe how big he is! if THAT'S how i feel as a nanny i can't imagine how it feels as a MOM! sheesh! the following picture is not great quality but i just hafta share it because it is adorable!
1) how HOT is my husband? seriously.
2) look at that little man just giggling away!
3) LOOK at the elephant in the background! how cool is THAT!?
4) this picture is why i KNOW my eric will be the world's best papa- he's a natural.
anyway- the zoo was a fun time for sure! it felt amazing to just be out enjoying the beautiful day! and to do it with such favorites was like icing on my already amazing cake! my favorite animals today were the meerkats and the elephants. some of the meerkats had just given birth to little itsy bitsy teeny weany babies and they were UH-dorable with a capital A. like- ive never seen such cuteness! and then the elephants were just totally up close and entertaining! ive never seen them come up so close and it was awesome! SUCH a good day... i am thankful for that.
anyway- those are the stories for today. hope you all are doing well friends. be blessed and as always- be thankful!
